Why use nitrogen gas for pre-commissioning of pipelines?

Pipeline pre-commissioning is a critical process that ensures newly constructed pipelines are safe and suitable for their intended functions. Nitrogen gas is commonly used in pipeline pre-commissioning to eliminate unwanted gases and impurities from the pipeline system environment. Nitrogen is an inert gas that can effectively displace oxygen and other pro-oxidative gases from industrial processes without reacting chemically with the substrates.
Nitrogen gas is also used in pipeline drying to remove residual water from pipelines following hydrostatic testing . The process of nitrogen pipeline drying is critical for ensuring that pipelines function efficiently and safely by eliminating the risk of rapid corrosion and altering the purity of fluid channeled through them .
